What a sample can tell you
Targeted sampling tests the material collected at the agreed location. A negative result for that sample does not establish that every similar-looking surface, concealed layer or other room is asbestos-free.
When the wider picture matters
Managing a non-domestic building or planning refurbishment or demolition can require a survey appropriate to that purpose. A few targeted samples should not be used as a substitute for understanding the full work area and any hidden materials.
What to tell us
Explain why you need the information and describe any planned intrusive work. Send existing survey or laboratory reports, including plans and sample locations, so the next step can be discussed.
