Why there is no single price
The material, area, condition and access all affect the work required. A few intact cement sheets at ground level are a different job from a ceiling above an occupied room. Even two garages of the same size can need different arrangements if one adjoins a house or has restricted access. An online average cannot account for those differences.
Identification before pricing
An existing laboratory result or relevant survey helps establish the material and location. Where identification is uncertain, sampling may be required before the scope can be confirmed. Photographs help with dimensions, access and surroundings; they cannot confirm asbestos content. Tell us what reports you already have so we can avoid assumptions about the work.
What the quotation should include
Look for the exact material and area to be treated, the agreed removal or collection work, preparation, cleaning, waste handling and documentation. Ask whether the total includes VAT. If independent reassurance air testing is requested, its arrangements and cost should be identified separately. D&M assesses the proposed work before agreeing what it can undertake.
The details that change the job
For floor work, describe fixed units, the substrate and any adhesive left behind. For ceilings, specify whether you want the backing removed as well as the coating. For garages, say whether the roof alone or the whole building is involved. The route from the vehicle, stairs, parking restrictions, neighbouring buildings and occupancy can also affect the quotation.
Allow for the next stage
Roof replacement, temporary weather protection, reboarding, plastering and new flooring are not automatically included in asbestos removal. Agree who is responsible for each follow-on task. Floor levelling or repairs may still be needed after tile and adhesive removal, and garage bases remain unless their removal is expressly included.
Comparing two quotes
Compare the written scope rather than the headline total alone. Check which rooms and surfaces are covered, what remains, who handles the waste and what paperwork you receive. Ask about exclusions or provisional items before booking. A clear quotation helps both you and your next contractor plan the work.
Getting a D&M quotation
Send the postcode, approximate dimensions or quantity, photographs and any laboratory or survey report. Include your timeframe and tell us if the property is occupied. We review the information and discuss whether testing or a visit is needed before confirming a quotation. The enquiry form does not calculate an automatic fixed price.
